Today is Brother Bear’s birthday! Happy birthday Brother Bear! Brother Bear requested yellow cake with chocolate icing for his birthday. Our family favorite is the Lazy Daisy cake from the Fannie Farmer cookbook. But our we outsource our favorite chocolate icing to a family friend who lives nowhere near my parents. As such, Wooden Nickels emailed asking for an easy chocolate frosting recipe. I sent her the following:

Let me fill you in on a little experience I had Saturday called cake tasting… it was beautiful. Get excited for raspberry frosting on white cake and butter-cream frosting with raspberry filling in white cake and chocolate frosting with raspberry filling in chocolate cake and butter-cream frosting with raspberry filling in chocolate cake. Yes, 4 flavors for 150 cupcakes.
When I left, I had a stomach ache yet wanted more. If you feel like making the cupcakes/etc. that go along with the “easier” frosting for a little “We can make it to the end of the school year” treat, I wouldn’t say no
