Fangirling here, but Jess is posting some real words every Wednesday. And this week she said she gets crazy-nervous to post these real words. Jess. Please don’t be nervous. These words are my favorite thing you’re doing right now, and this is coming from someone who just preached about how much I love your recipes. Also this week I found one of my old writer’s notebooks from elementary school, and hi, I love writing too. Please enjoy a snippet of one of my 4th grade stories, complete with the 90s-iest names you can find. Say hello to Cory, Morgan, and Jordan.
The Blind Men and the Elephant. This poem. What? A poem? I know, it’s not our usual fare here. But I adore this poem and it’s been on my mind a lot. I have some strong opinions, dear readers, but I avoid conflict at all costs. And so here. This says it all. The last stanza, the moral, is my absolute favorite. I recite it in my head often, when people are going back and forth (and back and forth) about something that matters not at all.
SCL asked me whether I have a speed-reading app yet. I do not. I don’t want to speed read? I kind of want to speed read. I don’t know, what do you think?
And on a much lighter note, What Type of Emoji Are You? I’m the winky/kissy face. This should surprise no one.
